engagement session

Miguel & Danielle • Channelside Engagement Photos • Downtown Tampa, Florida

We met up with Miguel & Danielle and their sweet pup Romey for their engagement session a few weeks ago. The weather was beautiful and the light was even more beautiful. Add in a good looking couple and an adorable dog, you have the perfect conditions for a great session. Enjoy!

When & how did you meet?

We meet in 2007 in Miami during graduate school and ended up being physical exam lab partners. We spent grueling long hours studying physiology and pharmacology which eventually led into falling for each other.  We both finally found our "home" in Tampa, FL after spending some time doing long distance in various cities.

When & how did you get engaged?

I said "yes" to Miguel at my Grandparents waterfront home in Indian Harbour Beach, FL during sunset the day before New Years Eve! :)  My family was present as the hidden papparazi. Fortunately, they also had my step dad on Facetime while he was deployed in Afghanastan so he could take part in the moment. Miguel arranged to have the rest of our friends and family there as a surprise engagement party after the proposal.  His niece was so cute, she said "What if Danielle says no? Will there still be a party?" I was so shocked that he was able to plan something without me knowing!

When and where is your wedding?

We are getting married at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Longboat Key and celebrating our reception at Zota Beach Resort after on St Patricks Day! March 17th will always be a fun anniversary!

Miguel as explained by Danielle.

Miguel is the most humble handsome human being on the planet! He has a way of captivating others heart with his kindness and gentle gestures. I adore his dedication to work, family and culture. My heart and soul lives in that tall mans body and can not wait to spend forever with him! :)

Danielle as explained by Miguel.

Danielle is a caring, warm-hearted and passionate lady and dog mom. She loves to travel, sleep and is a wonderful cook!

Anthony & Bria • Beach Sunset Engagement Photos • Clearwater, Florida

With impending rain (welcome to Florida in the summer...), we were nervous for how much we'd be able to shoot with Anthony & Rain but the rain ended up making this session even better! We got just the right amount to make things even better!

We started things off with Anthony & Bria at her parents house in Clearwater with their dog Bailey, who was just as great as can be.

When & how did you meet?

Anthony will tell you that we met for the first time riding together on a two and a half hour drive to Fort Myers for his fraternity formal. While that is technically true, we didn’t see each other for the rest of the weekend so I don’t think that counts. We REALLY met a month later when my date cancelled to my own formal and I needed a new date last minute. Two of my friends were dating Anthony’s best friends and suggested I take him. He seemed nice enough, and I figured if he turned out to be lame I could just ditch him with his friends! There was an instant connection at formal and we danced the night away! (or tried to) 6 years later and we can’t wait to (try to) dance the night away at our WEDDING

When & how did you get engaged?

In December Anthony and I bought our first house. Even though I had never mentioned it to Anthony, before we purchased our home he made it very clear that if we were going to buy a house an engagement would be at least 2 years or so away. I was in no rush, we had been together for almost 6 years at that point and purchased a home, an engagement could wait. 2 months into our life in our new home, Anthony insisted we have a house warming party. I tried to put it off because I wanted the house to be perfect, but he wouldn’t let me off the hook (even once claiming that April was too warm to have a house warming party) so I gave in. Then a few days prior to the party, Anthony suggested having just our close friends and family over early for a toast. I thought he was just being sentimental about our new house so I agreed and he coordinated it. Once all of our friends and family had arrived we went on to the front porch for pictures. I was holding our puppy so I didn’t notice when Anthony dropped to one knee. I was in total shock. After the hugs and the tears, Anthony had coordinated with my friends to bring decorations and treats and our house warming party turned into an engagement party! I guess that’s why he kept making excuses about having a party sooner than later!

When and where is your wedding?

Wedding will be in March 2018 at Sunken Gardens.

Anthony as explained by Bria.

Being with Anthony is effortless, his kind, caring heart and warm personality make him one of the most genuine people I have ever met. When you meet Anthony, you feel like you are instantly best friends and have known each other for years. He has such an infectious personality.  I always joke that Anthony could make a wall talk back to him if he tried. He keeps you on your toes, making sure you are laughing and having a good time. He is loving and very sentimental (something he thinks he keeps under wraps, but it beams from him all the time) He is driven, always seeking to better himself. He is my perfect man and best friend. I can’t wait to marry him.

Bria as explained by Anthony.

Bria is the sweetest person I have ever met. She is beautiful and kind, she is brilliant and funny. But above all, Bria is the most honest and kind-hearted person in the world. She always puts others before herself, often going out of her way to make sure others don’t have to. She decided to become a nurse because she loves helping people, especially women and babies. She always teases me and says she wants 5-6 little babies. (At least I hope she’s teasing…) Bria is always happy and always knows how to put a smile on my face. I love her more than anyone or anything in this world, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Daniel & Lily • At Home Engagement Session • Tampa, Florida

Love love love this session!!! And if you're wondering if you can bring your dog to your session, the answer is always always YES. Daniel & Lily were so easy in front of the camera and their pup Nero was a total ham.

At home sessions are so much fun and a great option for these hot summer months!

When & how did you meet?

We met in high school, Danny and I shared a few classes together and some how always ended up sitting next to each other. He would always make me laugh and in return I would help him out with some of the classwork. It wasn't until after he graduated that one of his close friends set us up.

When & how did you get engaged?

It all started one night when we went out to dinner and Danny hinted that he would like to get engaged soon. Me being the wedding obsessed girl that I am, thought nothing of it. (Little did I know he already had a ring!) He got me all excited, then a few week later told me he went to through his finances and it just wasn't going to happen for a few years. I told him that it was ok and we had time. About 3 or so weeks later he took me on a nice walk with our puppy, he was very sweet and told me why he loved our life so much. We made it to the dog park and he told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he had our dog with a note attached to him. The note said "will you marry him?" I look up and and was he down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I was shocked! I said yes of course then we drove to the store to get champagne. When we got in the car 'Forever and Ever, Amen' by Randy Travis was playing on the radio and I knew that it was meant to be.

Daniel as explained by Lily.

When I try to think of a word to describe Danny, all I can think of is home. I can go on and on about how amazing, funny, smart, and talented he is. Every day he surprises me, everyday we learn something new about each other. He is the often found playing with our puppy, making delicious breakfast, laughing with his friends, or watching Seinfeld.

Lily as explained by Daniel.

Lily is the embodiment of everything that is good in the world. She is intelligent, driven, compassionate, and always has a way of seeing the positive aspects of everything. It is hard to imagine what life would be like without her. Even after 5 years she still manages to surprise me. Sometimes I feel like she knows me better than I know myself. She is often found hanging out with friends, listening to Britney Spears, or watching HGTV.

Andrew & Bonnie • Hillsborough River State Park Engagement Photos • Thonotosassa, Florida

We were so excited when Andrew & Bonnie agreed to have their session at Hillsborough River State Park. We've been wanting to shoot here for a while and it was a perfect fit for them! Not only did we have amazing light but these two were awesome in front of the camera. We can't wait for their wedding in October!

When and how did you meet?

Andrew: We met freshman year of high school at cross country practice. At the time, believe it or not, Bonnie and I were about the same height. They put us back to back and measured us. We were both around 5 feet flat. Bonnie still says to this day that she was taller than me at that point, but I disagree.

Bonnie: Andrew and I met in high school when we were 15 years old. We both ran cross county and would spend a little time together there. I remember we were the same height at the time that we met, which is funny to think about because now he is a whole foot taller than me. We started to date about a year after meeting and have now been together 7 ½ years.

When and how did you get engaged?

Andrew: We got engaged on October 15th, 2016 on Davis Island outside of Jackson’s. I had been trying to figure out the best way to ask her for a few months and finally I came up with this idea to have a boat drive by with a sign attached to it that read, “Bonnie, Will You Marry Me?” as we walked along the water on Davis Island going into dinner. I wanted to surprise her so I told he that we were meeting my coworkers for dinner (hence why I was dressed up and she needed to be dressed up). I had one of her best friends and her boyfriend drive the boat, so I was texting them to coordinate to have the boat drive by right when we were walking in to dinner. I also arranged for a photographer to be there to capture the moment (Bonnie’s only request), and based off her reaction it was a big surprise. I was a mess trying to coordinate everyone; because I was worried that the boat may not be at the right place at the right time or that the photographer may not be in the right place. But everything worked out perfectly!

Bonnie: Andrew and I got engaged on October 15, 2016. We went to Jackson’s Bistro, which is a restaurant by the water in Tampa. While walking up to the restaurant, my friends Lauren and Lor were driving a boat with a huge banner on it that read “Bonnie, will you marry me?” I then turned around to see Andrew on his knee proposing. We then ate at the restaurant and afterwards Andrew coordinated a surprise engagement party at his parent’s house. The night flew by, and although I had my suspicions of when, where and how Andrew would propose, he totally surprised me with the way he did it and I loved it!

When and where is your wedding?

The wedding is on October 2017 at the Tampa Garden Club on Bayshore.

Bonnie as explained by Andrew:

Bonnie is the most driven person I have ever met. She has always inspired me by what she has accomplished and work towards when we have been together. Her competitive nature has driven her to become successful in whatever she puts her mind too. She is always supportive of my professional and personal goals. She is beautiful, intelligent, and caring to name a few things. She also absolutely loves the beach and is a terrific cook! (When she’s not trying to make me eat vegetables).

Andrew as explained by Bonnie.

Andrew is the most unique person I’ve ever met and that’s what I love most about him. He knows what he wants and works continuously until he achieves it. Everything is clear-cut and to the point with him with no in between. He is the cleanest person you will ever meet, his room is always spotless, car is always washed and vacuumed, and there is never anything out of order in his apartment… which is quite the opposite from me. He can sound so confident in anything he says, even if it’s something as ridiculous and wrong as “the grass is blue.” His unwavering confidence and matter-of-fact tone will make you want to believe whatever he says, and he uses this ability of his to joke around with my gullible self quite often… Aside from these attributes and characteristics that I love about him, he is also very caring, generous, and kind. He always puts others before himself, and I love that selfless nature about him. He is my best friend and I know I am blessed to have him in my life. I love living life with him and can’t wait to call him my husband!

Caleb & Arielle • Foundation Coffee & Water Works Park Engagement Photos • Tampa, Florida

We met with Caleb & Arielle a bit before their session at Foundation Coffee Co in Tampa Heights, one of our FAVORITE places in all of Tampa. We had coffee and chatted and laughed and became friends super fast and it all made for an awesome session!

When & how did you meet?

We met in December of 2014 at a game night at a friend's house.

Sometimes we (Jake & Katie, that is) get in each other's way while we shoot... sometimes it's annoying and sometimes it works... that big blue blur... yeah that is Jake's armpit, but we like it!!

When and how did you get engaged?

Arielle: We got engaged January 20th, 2017 (my birthday!) at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. We were walking around the gardens and looking at the banyan trees, and little did I know he had a photographer following us around waiting for us to stand in the perfect spot. As I was looking at these huge trees, he put his arm around me and told me he loved me, and then got down on one knee and proposed. I, of course, said yes. It's going to be really hard to top that birthday.

Caleb as explained by Arielle:

Caleb is the kindest man I've ever met. He is giving, honest, loyal, patient, hilarious, selfless, and God-fearing. He is all I've ever wanted, and most importantly, he is all that God knew that I needed. My biggest confidant, my better half, and most of all: my best friend.

Arielle as explained by Caleb:

Arielle is the most amazing person I've ever met. She is kind, loving, God- fearing, honest, caring, she is the funniest person you will ever meet. She can make anything from laying around the house watching Chopped to going out on a fancy date night a blast. She is supportive and loves with all her heart. She is the love of my life.
