This was one of those days where we were constantly watching the weather. The percentage of rain kept changing and the clouds would come and go keeping us on edge. Luckily, Lydia is a wedding photographer herself, which gave us peace of mind knowing she understood our predicament. And even more luckily, she gifted us with such a wonderful location for portrait time... scroll on and you'll see what we mean. Dwayne & Lydia got married in a quaint town called Smyrna in Delaware. From the corner pub to the firehouse where we did their engagement photos to the church where they said "I do," everything was within walking distance of everything. Not only was the town great, but Dwayne & Lydia and their friends and families made this day awesome.
Oh, and that huge steeple? Yeah, we got to climb up inside of it and get some awesome pictures...
A few detail shots inside the steeple.
Advice for future grooms:
Gents, All I can say is to enjoy the day. Take a deep breath because it's a beautiful start to a long life with your new bride.

Advice for future brides:
Take in every moment. Welcome in all the love and let your emotions play themselves out. Be nervous if you want to be, cry if you feel tears coming, laugh when you're happy, but let the day be exactly what it is. It's not going to go perfectly or according to plan, but either is life after this big day is over. Take things as they come, and take a deep breath knowing that in a short amount of time, that man who is the love of your life will soon become your husband. Tell him how much you love him, not only on your wedding day but every day after that. Lastly, make sure you let your family and friends know how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate them. This is so important. They're your support system. Your wedding day will be the happiest day of your life!! Enjoy every second!
Sweetest memory of the day:
Lydia: It has to be the first look with my brother and dad (sorry Dwayne). For me, that was such an emotional moment and a transition from bride to wife. Although seeing the look on Dwayne's face when I walked down the aisle is a close CLOSE second :) Dwayne: First dance with my wife. Something I will never forget.
Before we get to the ceremony, we're gonna put in a little plug for the engagement photo guest book. This is such a wonderful way to show off those engagement photos and create something that will stand the test of time.
The bokeh from those bridesmaid dresses... right?!
Favorite memories of the day:
Lydia - Definitely seeing him for the first time that day. Nothing will ever beat that huge skip I felt in my heart when I saw my almost husband standing up front. Also, the send off was great. There is nothing like seeing all of your friends and family lined up, waving sparkly sticks and wishing you the best. That was the first moment I was like "WOW, this guy is my HUSBAND!" Dwayne - Watching the doors to the sanctuary open and seeing my beautiful bride walking down the aisle.
Those few pictures above were all taken inside the steeple. Major props to Lydia for getting that dress up there!
Just when we thought we were going to have to gray dreary skies as our backdrop for portraits, we turned a corner and discovered this insanely beautiful tree. Lydia wanted to wait until after the ceremony to do any portraits because of the rain and we are SO GLAD we waited. While the rain continued to fall, our bride & groom were finally husband & wife and didn't have a care in the world. We walked away with some of our favorite images ever, including a killer Brenizer and some wonderful emotion filled moments.
The image below was 15 images stitched together using the Brenizer method. It is one of favorite images we have ever taken and we are so excited that it was chosen to be featured on LooksLikeFilm's website in a few weeks.
Can you feel the joy?! Even as the rain was falling on them on their wedding day, they were all smiles. What a beautiful thing!
Funniest memory of the day:
Bride: It's a tie between the cake cutting and my guitar solo that somehow ended with my sliding across the floor in this huge gown. Groom: Lydia's face after we cut the cake, she wasn't quite sure if I was going to be nice and feed her or be mean and smash the cake in her face.
Thanks goes out to...
To both of our families for always loving us, always supporting us, and ultimately, wanting God's plan and what's best for us. I could go into detail about every detail of how these amazing people helped make the day possible, but it would be a novel. Love you all!!
