So, you know a couple is awesome when they are willing to schedule their engagement session at 6:30 in the morning. Andy & Jenna didn't even flinch at the idea of waking up insanely early for their shoot. Luckily, we all got to enjoy an extra hour of sleep once we realized how the light would be after the time changed and moved the session to 7:30 and all enjoyed an extra hour of sleep. This was one of those sessions where you forget that your not just hanging out with friends. Andy & Jenna are so easy going and fun which made their session awesome! That and some nice cool Fall weather.
Before you get scrolling, here’s what you should know about Andy & Jenna, according to Andy & Jenna:
When and how we met: I saw Andy the first time on the first day of high school when he walked into my homeroom, sat down and stuck his chewing gum underneath his desk. Ew. I didn't get to know him until the next year when we both went on a chorus trip to New York City. (He was much more of a gentleman.) We started dating shortly after and the rest is history!
When and how we got engaged: Andy took me to The Melting Pot for a date night in July. After an evening full of fondue and fancy skewers he told me we were going back to his house for dessert with his family. We left Melting Pot (in the pouring rain, Andy had to go get an umbrella from the car) and headed back to his house. We arrived at his house and Andy looked at his phone and said that his family was all hanging out in the backyard. We walked around the house to meet them, but when we came to the backyard, there was no one there. I was confused until I noticed an adorable bench and a sign that said "Central Park." That was when I knew something was about to happen. Andy led me over to the bench with the biggest smile on his face. He sat me down, reached behind the bench, pulled out a ukulele, and sang me the sweetest song I have ever heard ("Oh, It Is Love" by Hellogoodbye). The song ended with him singing "wouldn't it be nice if you married me?" He stood me up and got on one knee. After he proposed, our family and friends from all over ran out of the house. I was SO surprised! Andy later told me that he would have wanted to propose in New York City where our relationship first started, but since we couldn't go there he did the next best thing...transformed his backyard into Central Park.
When and where is our wedding: We are getting married July 9, 2016, at Idlewild Baptist Church.
Him as explained by her: Andy is the best person I know. He is absolutely hilarious and his jokes make me (and everyone else in the room) laugh harder than I knew possible. He is a very talented writer and puts his all into his work as a jouralist every single day. Actually, he puts his all into everything he does; he is an incredibly hard worker, which is one of the things I love most about him. One of Andy's passions is golfing and I enjoy when I get to go along with him. (I just to watch from the golf cart, I'm terrible at the game.) His love for the Lord is one of the things I love most about him. Andy really does bring out the best in me. I can not wait to be married to my high school sweetheart!
Her as explained by him: Jenna is a brilliant, beautiful and sincere woman who is living out her calling as a schoolteacher. She's able to use her God-given gifts — namely patience, kindness and even a tad bit of manipulation — with a wily group of fourth-graders, and me, every day. She loves to sing, especially in the car and obviously in public settings, and is wonderfully talented. She loves Jesus, her family and her friends and brightens the day of everyone around her.
